David
Boyd & Boyd Bucking Bulls
All
little boys want to be
cowboys, but this one
was nuts to play with
bulls. As a young man,
David first showed
interest in bulls while
living with his step
father, Gary Harper.
You see, Gary loved the
Rodeo and raised David
to love it too. Gary
especially enjoyed bull
riding, and often took
David behind the chutes
to see all the action.
From then on David
learned to love the
intensity that comes
while you prepare
yourself to ride. Yet,
even as a young man,
David had shown a great
interest in the funny
looking men with paint
on their faces and big,
baggy shorts. He seemed
to think that the Rodeo
Clown always had the
best seat, and had more
fun than all those young
bucks who got thrown to
the ground.
Gary
insisted that David learn to
ride bulls before he could
fight them. He was right!
As much as David dreaded
getting strapped down onto a
2000 pound freight train, he
know that before he could
run, he need to learn how to
walk. David quickly
learned how a bull could
move, how it felt underneath
him, and how easy it was to
lose control. Control is
the secret to both riding
and bull fighting. After a
few years of practice, small
town rodeos, and a million
bumps and bruises, Gary
finally decided that David
was ready to get out from
behind the chutes and into
the arena.
David
has now been bull fighting
for the past 12 years and
has loved every minute of
it. With the help of
family and friends, he has
become a trusted bull
fighter and a great friend
to many of those bull riders
he has
helped. He is known in
Arizona, Utah, and New
Mexico for being a
consistent bull fighter. He
has traveled many miles to
strengthen his skills,
worked with many different
stock contractors, and never
met a bull he didn't like.

In 2004
he attended a Sankey Rodeo
School and was named number
one student of his class.
With a
recent move back to Eagar,
Arizona he has been fighting
for the up and coming bull
riders every Thursday night
at the local practice pen.
David
and his wife Janet have been
happily married for the past
10 years and they both enjoy
the sport. "He has been
fighting bulls longer than
we have been together, but
one thing is for sure, he
would leave me standing in
the rain if it meant helping
one young bull rider. That
is the one thing that I'm
most proud of, he has a
talent and a true interest
in helping and teaching any
bull rider who is willing to
listen. Yes, I get nervous
sometimes on the close
calls, but thanks heavens he
has never been seriously
hurt!"
David
will be the first to tell
you when he needs to
improve, and the last to
expect a thank you for a job
well done. If you are
looking for a great guy, a
hard worker, and a dedicated
bull fighter, then all you
need to do is ask for David
W. Boyd and your search will
be over. |
